Many years ago when I went to the shops as a beginner, it just naturally occurred to me to pick up a zoom lens because of the type of photography I do to reach the farthest subjects. I never gave a second thought about inquiring many options other than range of affordable prices and how it impacts my style.  I have been shooting the nature & wildlife for many years now and zoom lens has been playing a vital role to get to the closer range from a standing point and also for a fact that I can compose or re-compose anyway I want to. But then a few years later, things seem to have changed when I began to think if people's advise of using a prime lens would have made an impact on my indoor photography to get those desired results. I know I don't own a great kit but nothing was wrong with my pictures in terms of quality, exposure or sharpness. With a bit of research I negotiated a 50mm F1.8g prime lens in exchange of a quality zoom lens for a fact that I would get wider aperture
